Electronic Business & Investment Linkages Between Malaysia and ASEAN To Be The Focus of NEPCON Thail

Enhancing electronic business and improving business linkages between Malaysia and ASEAN will be a key focus area of NEPCON 2017, ASEAN’s number 1 Exhibition on Tools, Machinery, Equipment, and Technology for Electronics Industry that will be held from June 21 to June 24, 2017 at BITEC, Bangkok, Thailand.

Speaking at a conference to introduce the event, a representative for Miss Patcha Wutipan Minister Counselor Commercial, Royal Thai Embassy, Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers’ Institute shared aspects of the Thai Government’s policy to support collaborations in the electronics industries between Thailand and Malaysia. She said that the policies emphasize mutual development of trade in the electronics and electrical industries between the two countries, today valued at 5,150 million US dollars annually.

“The Thai government is eager to expand trade volume between Thailand and Malaysia and encourages the private sectors of the two countries to fully leverage the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement which has reduced the tariffs between the two countries while the Mutual Recognition Agreements on Standards for Electrical and Electronic Equipment has eliminated technical barriers to trade.”

“The Thai government offers support for strategic partnerships in trade and investment activities that could be a venue for Thai and Malaysian business people to meet and network in the form of trade fairs and trade missions.

One such trade fair is NEPCON Thailand 2017. It presents a unique platform for international technology providers to jointly drive growth in the regions electronics industry, whose potential could attract global electronics manufactures for further expansion or investment.
The trade show will offer Malaysian firms the opportunity to participate and showcase innovative technologies for the electronics manufacturers, meet with potential buyers and set up a network where Malaysian and Thai manufactures can tap into opportunities for future orders.
Dr. Sampan Silapanad, President of Electronics and Computer Employers Association (ECEA) & Vice President of Western Digital (Thailand) Co., Ltd. cited the steady growth of Thai electronics industry has led to strong growth in creating new knowledge, employment and sales. This growth has resulted in a healthy supply of highly skilled personnel in this industry.

“There is strong potential for partnership between the Thai and Malaysian businesses as both are focused on building connections within the industry. NEPCON Thailand 2017 will greatly benefit manufacturers and investors in the electronics industry as it is the event that brings the latest knowledge to and helps create connections among ASEAN. It is important for businesses to find partners with whom they can share knowledge, technology and synergy to face upcoming challenges. NEPCON 2017 can certainly provide the platform for related manufacturers and investors who want to find reliable domestic or international business partners.”

Mr. Duangdej Yuaikwarmdee, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Sales Officer, Reed Tradex said that the NEPCON Thailand offered unrivalled opportunities to ASEAN businesses, but with Malaysia and Thailand holding the top 2 positions as manufacturers of electronic products, they have the most to gain.
